Michigan State House candidate’s writings assailed as anti-Christian, anti-Muslim

Human rights and minority groups in the U.S. have raised concerns about Michigan State House candidate Padma Kuppa’s writings, which they say endorse India’s religious nationalists.

In 2012, as an executive member of the Hindu American Foundation, Kuppa wrote articles on the Hinduism Today website, which according to her critics, is an assault on the fabric of a free society. Kuppa, 53, a Democrat is running from Michigan’s 41st District of Troy and Clawson. According to an Oct. 25 report in The Detroit News, Kuppa “is among 10 female candidates in the top 13 target races for House Democrats.”
